Publications
Overview
The Association for Tarot Studies aims
to publish a variety of resources for tarot enthusiasts.
The ATS's most important function is
to encourage further understanding of tarot, whether this
be in relation to its history, its symbolism, or its various
uses. Publication of important
and original work is hence actively promoted in the form
of, amongst other forms, books, decks and periodicals.
The ATS itself produces
a monthly Newsletter, has undertaken the re-publication of Robert O'Neill's important Tarot
Symbolism and Frank Jensen's The Story of the Waite-Smith Tarot. Other undertakings include the
(infrequent) journal - Taros -
the Journal for Tarot Studies, a very limited
edition of Major
Tom Schick's Tarot de Marseille, and a set
of ten DVDs from the 2005 International Tarot Conference (now out of print)
hosted by the Association for Tarot Studies, Shane Kendal's poetry through the Trumps: From Motley Hat to Deathly Shroud, Jean-Michel David's Reading the Marseille Tarot, and the forthcoming collection of tarot essays edited by Emily E. Auger Tarot in Culture (expected release date: July-August 2011).
Also of growing significance is Tarotpedia - the online encyclopedia of tarot.
